“I don’t want the national award” : Kareena Kapoor

Kareena Kapoor who is gearing up for her best performance of her life in ‘Heroine’, says that she has put in her best for the movie and hasn’t done it to win awards.

“I don’t want the national award… I seriously don’t need any such thing. I would only want the audience to go and watch the film once and that will be more than enough for me. Once everybody should see the movie and say it is a good watch.” Bebo said in a recent interview.

Anushka or Deepika for Salman???

Salman Khan’s career is at its peak. Leave aside directors and producers, even actresses are desperately wanting to work with him. Salman is in demand. We hear that Deepika Padukone and Anushka Sharma are in the race to be paired opposite Sallu, in Kick.

Now, when it’s a Salman starrer flick, it definitely has to be in news.

Buzz has it that both, DP and Anushhka are trying their best to to win the role of the female lead in producer-director Sajid Nadiadwala Kick.

Chances are that Anushka may mange to get the role as Deepika is a busy lady these days with too many projects in her kitty.

If Anushka gets the role, she will become one of those few actresses who have worked with all the three Khan’s. This will also shoot up her career graph.

The final decision is still pending. Do stay tuned to our site to know more about ‘Kick’!

Meanwhile you tell us who would look better opposite the Tiger Khan- Deepika or Anushka???

Asha Bhosle to make her acting debut at 78 with ‘Maaee’

Bollywood News: Legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle, who is all set to make her acting debut at a ripe age of 78, with ‘Maaee’, says the movie is a sureshot tear-jerker.

The Hindi film, directed by debutant Mahesh Kodiyal tells the story of a woman abandoned by her only son and then goes to live with her daughter and son-in-law.

“I had great time working for this film. As far as my performance goes I think you all should see and tell me how I am. All I can say is that if every woman doesn’t cry when she watches the film, then I will change my name,” Bhosale told reporters here last night.
The veteran singer has done many music videos but it is for the first time that she is doing a lead role in a movie. The film also stars Padmini Kolhapure, Ram Kapoor, Navin Kaushik and Shivani Joshi. Produced by Subhash Dawar-Nitin Shankar the film is slated to release on November 23.

The versatile songstress feels that there is no one in the industry today who can take her place. “There is no one because I have sung all types of songs in different styles, in different languages. I have sung Russian, English …I have sung songs in Malayalam and all types of songs. I haven’t seen anyone who has done that,” she said.

Bhosle, who would turn a year older on September 8, wishes to get love and support from fans for the rest of her life. “I am thankful to the audience and my fans for their love and support. I wish whatever love and support I received from them should stay with me till my last day,” she said at a birthday celebration organized last night.

Several musicians like Anu Malik, Sulaiman Merchant, Sukhwinder Singh, Suresh Wadkar and others from the music industry who were present on the occasion were all praise for Bhosle.

“I remember when I was 16, I went to her place. She asked me why I had come. I told her I want her to do a song for me. She was so busy but still took out time and agreed to sing my song. The day she said yes I will sing for you, I can never forget it. She has helped so many singers like me. It is tough to get someone so talented again,” singer-composer Anu Malik said.

Singer-composer Salim Merchant who was one of the judges of singing reality show ‘Indian Idol 6′ is elated to have shared the stage with Bhosale. “I think I am lucky to spend so much time with her during ‘Indian Idol’. Also, I got to learn so much from her. I connected with Ashaji so well in ‘Indian Idol’,” he said.

Playback singer Suresh Wadkar performed on song ‘Sapne Mein Milti Hai’ from Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Satya’, for which Bhosale also had lent her voice.

Sonakshi to romance Saif now

Her fascination for older heroes continues

She has been paired with much older heroes like Salman Khan in ‘Dabangg’ and Akshay Kumar in ‘Rowdy Rathore’. But it looks like Sonakshi Sinha’s penchant for older heroes is far from over. The 25-year-old actress has been signed opposite Saif Ali Khan, 42, in Tigmanshu Dhulia's ‘Bullet Raja’. Interestingly, for the film that is based on the UP mafia, the actress who has portrayed the rustic northern belle in her previous ventures will be seen as a Bengali damsel.

"As soon as Saif returned to Mumbai, Tigmanshu had a lengthy meeting with him to discuss the heroine. He was very keen to have Sonakshi on board and was convinced that she could pull off the role with ease," a leading daily reports.

Sonakshi, on the other hand is excited about this new project. "She loves Tigmanshu's films and is looking forward to working with him," a source told the daily. Apparently, the actress is excited to play a Bengali girl, which would be different from her village belle avatar in ‘Dabangg’ and ' Patna ki phuljhadi' role in ‘Rowdy Rathore’

Priyanka Imitates Akshay

She makes a dare-devil entry on a bike at an event

Priyanka Chopra’s taste for adventure off and on screen is well known. But what she did recently (no, we are not talking about her alleged visit to Salman Khan’s house in the dead of night) was quite a surprise. At a recent award ceremony (Young Entertainment Awards), she made an entry on stage riding on a super bike. For actors like Akshay Kumar and company, this might be a regular thing, but never before has an actress attempted something like this. It looks like the action in her personal life is not enough for this ‘jungli billi’

Meanwhile, PC’s cousin, Parineeti suddenly finds herself with no action at all. Parineeti, who was touted as the next big thing, after her scintillating performance in ‘Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl’ and ‘Ishaqzaade’, is apparently sitting at home twiddling her thumbs and waiting for some offer to come her way. Yash Raj Films can be partly blamed for Parineeti’s unemployment as they have signed her for a three-film exclusive deal. But the film that she was supposed to have done with them is stuck and might not get revived. All she has for company now are some awards that she received for being the best newcomer of the industry. She needs more lessons from cousin Piggy – imitating Akshay on stage on a bike does get results.

Esha Gupta takes tips from Emraan Hashmi in "Raaz3"

Emraan Hashmi who played a director in The Dirty Picture, will be seen once again as a filmmaker in Raaz3. But he says this time around he just looks at the profit and doesn’t consider film making an art.

He said, “In ‘The Dirty Picture’, I played an artistic director and here I play a 2012 director. He (the character in ‘Raaz 3′) is more contemporary and relatable. He only wants box office success and there (in ‘The Dirty Picture’) he had complete contempt for commercial cinema, he used to think that commercial movies are not good. So both are very different.”

Raaz3 is the story about the downfall of an actress and how she uses black magic to try and get her position on the top back. Produced by Mukesh Bhatt and directed by Vikram Bhatt, Emraan Hashmi will be seen romancing Bipasha and Esha Gupta.

Talking bout Esha Gupta, Emraan said, “In her first film (‘Jannat 2′), she didn’t get to act much, but in this film she did. Her role is very difficult because it is of a rising star that is vulnerable and loses control of who she is.” adding he gave her tips whenever required.

“She doesn’t need me to be her idol and I think she is a good actress. Whenever I get the chance, I used to give her tips.”

Aamir Khan on the cover of ‘Time’ magazine

He is the fourth Indian actor to be featured on the cover

Aamir Khan's hugely successful TV show ‘Satyamev Jayate’, that focused on burning issues facing India and ways of tackling them, has landed him on the cover of prestigious Time magazine as India's first superstar-activist.

"He's breaking the Bollywood mold by tackling India's social evils. Can an actor change a nation?" asks the blurb on the cover of the Asia edition of the September 10 issue of the US magazine, which features a close-up of the actor looking intensely into the camera.

Tracing the rise of Aamir Khan with the 1988 blockbuster hit ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’, Time's Bobby Ghosh notes that over the past decade the 47-year-old actor has acted in, directed and produced a string of movies that artfully straddle the demands of popular cinema and that desire for grace.

"Now, with his groundbreaking TV show ‘Satyamev Jayate’ (Truth Alone Prevails), he has dispensed with commercial considerations to indulge his conscience," writes Ghosh.
"With it, Khan has taken on the mantle of the country's first superstar-activist.”

"The show, in equal parts chat and journalism, casts an unblinking spotlight on some of India's ugliest social problems," he says of the show of which Khan is "creator, producer and host, and he has invested it with his star power - and his credibility.

"Can a movie star affect the mores of a nation of 1.2 billion?" asks Ghosh and suggests "It might just be possible in India, where a national obsession with cinema, unparalleled in the world, gives popular actors an influence beyond the imagination of Hollywood scriptwriters.

Aamir Khan is the fourth Indian actor to be featured on the cover of Time magazine. Shah Rukh Khan was on the cover in 2004, Aishwarya Rai made it in 2003 and Parveen Babi was featured in 1976.

Preity Zinta’s film to have a French premiere

Preita Zinta who has turned producer with the film ‘Ishkq in Paris’ has apparently chosen to screen her maiden production in Paris and not in Mumbai as was earlier planned. Reports say actress Isabelle Adjani's Indian look in the film has created quite a stir there. Isabelle has been featured in saris, ghagra-cholis, bindis and bangles in top French publications, including the country's largest-selling news weekly ‘Paris Match’.

So much so the film's makers have decided to hold a grand Indo-French premiere in Paris instead of Mumbai as was earlier planned. And governments of both countries are being taken into confidence to ensure a smooth event that comes across as a symbol of cultural amity between India and France.

Director Prem Raj Soni confirmed the news and said, "We're now going to have the premiere in Paris. Isabelle has been all over France in her Indian look. There's tremendous buzz about India and Indian cinema in France. We'd like to be part of this excitement. Ours is the first Indian film to be covered in the mainstream French press."

He said a list of invitees is being readied. "Isabelle will draw up the list of invitees from Paris. Preity will be taking care of the list of guests from India who will be attending the Paris premiere."

Meanwhile, a source revealed, "Ishkq In Paris is being premiered on October 4 or 5 in Paris. Political dignitaries from the highest level from India and France are expected to attend. Isabelle is even using her clout to invite the French President Francois Hollande for the premiere."

Shirish Kunder thrown out of ‘Kick’

Whatever the reasons, the last we heard Farah Khan is hopping mad at this turn of events andBollywood has always had its fair share of tiffs. But the whole industry is divided into two factions, after that infamous birthday fight between powerhouses, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. Looks like the repercussions of the fight continue till date. The latest victim is Shirish Kunder. Farah Khan’s editor-turned-director has been unceremoniously dumped from ‘Kick’, starring Salman Khan. According to sources, Salman was not too happy with Farah Khan rekindling her friendship with Shah Rukh Khan.

However, looks like there is more to the ouster than the old rivalry. Akshay Kumar, clearly in Salman Khan’s camp and also very close to Sajid Nadiadwala, the producer of ‘Kick’, is said to have a big hand in getting Shirish kicked out. Akshay and Shirish had major misunderstandings during the making of ‘Joker’. Akki was so unhappy with Kunder that he refused to promote the film and it tanked big time. Akshay is said to be so peeved by Kunder that he has decided to get him out of directing movies altogether. So he is said to have put in a request to pals Sajid and Salman to get the man out of the scene and they were only too keen to comply. is defending her husband all over again! While Shirish is said to be sulking big time and has gone underground for a while!
